ADVICE: How to get the most from your interior designer…

  1. Identify Items Which Must Remain.

Discuss this with your decorator so they can work it into your new plan, but be flexible. It may be time to update your couch that has been in your family for years. If you have some wonderful heirloom pieces, by all means, keep them! They can be just the items to finish your new design in a special way.

  2. Be Open to New Ideas.

This may sound obvious, but to many people, change can be difficult. Rely on the talents of your designer – this is the reason that you’ve invested in the designer. Let your designer guide you in new directions.

  3. The 3-Day Rule.

I ask all my clients to live with their new look for a minimum of 3 days and allow the new surrounding proper time to sink in. If things need to change, not a problem, but first give it time. I’ve had clients that say, “Oh, Kelly, That doesn’t look anything like me,” or “My family won’t like that lamp…” Well, 9 times out of 10, they love it when all the furniture is placed and the room is complete.
